Motor not Driving Satellite Small Movements

I'm having a strange problem with my diseqc motor. When driving my 90cm dish west from 19E, it will not move unless I ask it to go to 4E or further west. If I change to a channel on a satellite to the east of 4E it doesn't move. Equally, when I move it east from any of the channels between 4E and 19E it responds but doesn't drive sufficiently far to lock onto the satellite. I don't experience this problem with the motor when moving between satellites further west. Any ideas on what I should do?
 
Assuming this is a recent problem and it used to work fine, then one or both of the following might apply:

1. The F connector at the motor end of the cable from the box isn't tight enough - a less than perfect connection can cause motor drive problems without necessarily affecting the reception from Satellites you can drive the dish to.


2. You have inadvertently set a software limit. This is easily done - we've had two confirmed cases in the past month alone. Go into your motor control settings in the box and clear all limits.
 
As tivu mentioned check the above,also can you tell us what motor do you have,you might be able to reset the motor......

When the installer fitted the motor 3 years ago (I'd bought it a year previously but had never used it) he commented on how it moved in one of the directions very slowly. Ever since then it's been unreliable. I will try your tip about tightening the connection to the motor.

I'm never very sure about which type of motor it is, but visually it matches exactly the one in this article

My receiver is a Tevii S650.

On the assumption that this is the motor, having seen article's reference to the motor having a "high power consumption" I also wondered whether some kind of positioner to assist my usb receiver might be necessary. I have operated the motor with a cheap Lidl's receiver as well and although it was a while ago, I'm pretty sure there were problems with it at that stage as well. It's something I'm planning to test again if necessary to eliminate my Tevii receiver as a potential cause.

USB PC based receivers very often struggle with powering motors, may simply be that it isn't man enough for it.
 
Many thanks Tivu! Detached and reattached the f-connector and it has improved significantly. Such a simple thing but it never occurred to me! Perhaps the movement of the motor had loosened the connection. I'll keep trying using it for the next few weeks but hopefully that should have sorted things out. Thanks again.
 
Well that is good news - and I heaved a sigh of relief reading it as I had singularly failed to take into account the issue of the poor current sourcing from many Cards and have been hiding under the table since RolfW's Post!

But that issue may still be relevant - so any remaining sluggishness will probably be Card related.
