The dish has a scale on it to use as a guide.

Moved to a new thread.

If it's one of the Motecks or clone's it'll have a shaft bend 30° relative to the main polar axis. You need to set the motor inclination angle on the motor scale (around 52) and dish elevation slightly facing up. Dish elevation markings are not that accurate but on some true dish markings it should be around 22°.

I have done this now, i was reading it wrong, lol.
My pole is vertical by checking with a spirit level and i have set the DM8000 up at 0.8w and locked onto the satellite. I am receiving a SNR of 74-75%, is this low or ok? I then move the dish to 28.2E and i get 85%, but when i move to the west i dont seem to be getting very good signals from the sats. I am still learning with the Dreambox as it is my 1st box other than a sky one.

What satellites are you trying on the West?

I am scanning 12.5w at the moment and it has picked a few up so far, i am upto 11156H and i have 9 services found. I will find out the SNR of the channels in a moment once it has done.

Well you should get 15w, 22w etc but there are very few transponders received on these birds. See _http://www.flysat.com/satlist.php for more info. 30West though for example is an easy catch so if you have line of sight and are unable to receive this then the dish is not tracking correctly.

for 30W i get around 560 i think, on some of them the quality is around 78% and some around 82%. I take it the dish is aligned ok then?
