Hi,

I have been looking at the option of either trying to use my existing s*y mini dish, upgrading to a fixed dish or upgrading to a motorised dish to try and get satellites such as hotbird 13e.

I have searched the forum and it seems like a s*y mini dish may work. a fixed 80cm dish would be better. or a motorised dish may be better still.

The only concern I have is that the dish is at the front on the house and I'm concerned a motorised dish will look huge and obtrusive.

All I'm after is some reassurance on the matter.

Am I correct in thinking a 80cm motorised dish is no more intrusive than an 80cm fixed dish?

Do anyone have any pcitures of set ups of 80cm motorised dishes?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Depends what satellites/content you're after. If you just want one of the high powered satellites like Hotbird 13e and Astra 19e then a minidish will do fine.

Not without knowing which part of the UK you are in.

A motorised dish normally has to fit further off the wall than a fixed one, to cover the arc extremes, though a good installer will try to minimise the impact on the neighbours.

Rule of thumb, go the largest dish you can get away with, to maximise the number of channels and to reduce the effect of rain fade on the weaker channels.
