hi does a motorised satellite dish automatically change elevation for different satellites when i change channel
 
Essentially yes: The motor stub describes a locus that tracks the arc in such a way that both elevation and skew are automatically and inherently correct.

There wouldn't be much point in motorising if only the azimuth changed!
 
so if i set up motorised dish in uk pointing at say 28.2e it with elevation of 22.6 deg then if i want to get channels on 19.2e which is 25.6 elevation it will get it
 
Well yes, that's the point of motorising.

There are two ways of setting up, one using DiSEqC where you find and store Satellite positions, having first aligned the dish/motor to your South Satellite (Thor in your case) and the other using an inbuilt algorithm called USALS. In the latter case, although it's common to still set up initially on your South Satellite, you can actually set it up at any point on the arc.

I note, however, from your User Profile that you have a 60cm dish. To get best general use you might consider using something around 80cm.

But if funds are short, you'll get all the strong Satellites on a 60cm.
 
i would like to get satellites from like 28.2e to matbe 4e maybe more i got dm500s and im looking to get basically cheapest set up i can really.what strong satellites will i pick up with a 60cm dish
 
A slight flaw with your project is that the DM500S is very fickle (ie often useless!) at driving a motor owing to crap power supply.
 
what bos would tou recommend for that thats not too expensive

The thing to do is to try the DM500s to see if drives the motor OK, they have a reputation for not doing so, but I have seen a lot that do, USALS doesn't seem to work very well though, if at all.
 
Ive had some experience here...

The only motor I ever got to work properly using usals and a dm500s was a manhattan stab motor crikey I dont know if they do them now also found a motek usals motor was quite reliable. Ironicaly the inventors of the usals algrithm STAB Italy manufactured their own branded motors with the stub arm facing upwards (not recomended) their motors are useless with DM500s's didnt find any different results with a genuine or clone dm500s - even used a 1.3amp power supply to try and beat it but still no joy

If you decide to go motorised go actutor and polar mount its much more secure and will give you the best results on a windy day my advice for what ist worth if your dish is sheltered diseqc is fine if its exposed to the elements actuator and polar mount is a must - BUT most of all in every motorised setup the correct bracket and fixings must be used - Obviously the downside of an actuator setup is it has to be driven by a seperate power cable attached to either a receiver or a diseqc motor box - One thing with the actuator setup not many installers can do it or at least do it properly and the reason for this is they want to be in and out quick and with an actuatoir setup there is a little more fine tuning to do than with usals good luck
