motorised set up query

when the time comes and my motor packs up and i have to change it; i just wanted to know if its a job i can do myself, without expensive installation charges. is it a case of just swapping the old one with new and aligning to 1W. my position setting in the motorised menu is 1.5W,Antenna Longitude and 53.7N Latitude. I dont have any meters or owt.

Yes, it will need re-algning to 1W again. If the motor is identical, you will not have to adjust the elevation bracket on the dish.

Although, do possibly allow for some minor adjustment.

currently using power tech motor. was thinkin probably get one with metal gears when that packs in. will i have to change elevation bracket then. if so can i aquire some info off you guys as to where i need to move it. but you deffo think i can do it without any set up equipment or the need for an installer. cheers for reply ROBBO.

I would be more concerned about seized bolts on the early DiSEqC motor drives, and of course, your health and safety working up a ladder.

I cannot say for deffo, as I don't know your abilities. But with care, and patience, and a little bit of reading up of the guides, it should be manageable. A receiver with TV can be used as a meter. ( obviously not a 42" plasma on the rooftop though.
