Advice Needed Motorising a Zone 2

Interesting.

That looks easier than the current plan I have.

Basically my plan is to fasten 2x 50mm clamps to the back of the existing minidish mount by removing the 4 nuts. Then use 2x more 50mm clamps for the motor.
Have you found the clamps for this , going to try this later in the week after the storms, got an old zone 2 somewhere, not sure if it's a MK2 or MK4.

Plenty on ebay. 50mm.

I think Screwfix sell them too.

Post an update on how you get on. I am intrigued to see how you get on in terms of initial setup and then the signal.

On the look out for a dish, must have binned mine last year. Need to get clamps
,coach bolts.
For the 50mm clamps , Is it M8 x 90mm I need?

If you can find a Mark 1 Zone 2 dish these bolt directly on to a 50mm motor stub albeit with just the one u clamp. Doubtful you'll find one these days. All the other version need basic modifications to fit.

Ive done a few of these mainly due to landlord restrictions.

So just remove them screws and screw one 2" clamp , or 2 clamps , yeah saw the triax MK4 requires you to fit on the arm side on , Screenshot_20240124-142758.png

They're rare now! Savaged by the iron oxide.

IMG_6947.jpegA big 4 month bump.

I ended up buying a brand new MK4 Zone 2, got it for a really good price.

Before measuring the bracket on the back of the MK4 which is 60mm wide, I ordered some clamps off Amazon and they’re too small - as shown on the photo.

The problem I am finding is they all seem to be the same width online, around 70mm.

I need clamps that are around 100mm, like the ones off the motor, which are 100mm.

Any idea where I can find bigger ones?

Exhaust centre?
Good shout.

Looks like they go up to 102mm which would be more than suitable.

Not sure if the actual bolt will be long enough when around the motors stub but we’ll see.

Put my install on hold, until I find a dish , got 90mm bolts, washers and a spare motor clamp but may get another set of clamps. Where did you get your dish may I ask.

Off a well known auction site.

Advertised as an 80cm Zone 2 (it’s 76cm) dish pack with cable, quad Sky LNB, clips etc.

I'll take a look

I set the dish up and had a look at the signal levels on 1w first, then 16e.

There is very little rain margin on 16e as predicted. I sat my Inverto black ultra loosely in the holder and it doesn’t perform as well on the Zone 2 as the Sky lnb.
