The Moteck itself is a clone, so this just appears to take it one step further. :)

Yeah it does, apparently, it's a "geotrack/superjack 120 H-H" motor. Here's a pic so you can see it.

These do support USALS, though the receiver used can be a gamble as to the accurate positioning

Do you think it would be possible to mount the dish and pole on the end of my extension? Obviously the pole would be tall enough to ensure that the dish wouldn't hit the extension roof when it rotated. The problem is that the roof of the house would block the signals when it swung around. Have a look at the pic and tell what you think.

You could put it there, but it may be doubtful for 30W, unless you had it on a long mast.

So if I mounted it at the end of the extension, I probably wouldn't get anything past 30W? :(

Hey guys I've been busy and not had a chance to do the installation (any day now :p), but I was wondering if any special kind of scaffold pole was needed? ie a non-rusting, or galvanized pole or something? Or will any old scaffold do? (I dont want my pole to become rusted after months of rain, and my dish come crashing down  )

Okay, got my scaffold pole, got my 16" T&K brackets, only thing missing now are the bolts to fix the brackets to the wall. I was thinking of getting 8mm by 70mm coach screws- are these strong enough to hold a 1 metre dish + 1.5 metre pole + motor? And what wall plugs do I need?

Okay, the thing is finally up, but I'm not getting as many channels as I thought I would. :confused
On some sats, I get one or two channels, and lots of them are blank. Would a rescan be helpful (as these sats were already on a channel list I d/l'ed), or perhaps some adjustments using the motor? If I adjust the position on TP, will it affect the other TP's on that sat? BTW just so i'm not grasping at straws, what can i receive with a 90cm/1M dish in nw london?

Channel lists can become out of date very quickly, a rescan on some satellites would probably help.

The are many channels which are encrypted and will simply show a black screen, what sort of signal strength and quality are you showing on the different satellites?

Apologies in advance for the following long post, here are my results:

Almost all channels. (I mucked around with USALS and things were pretty much sorted)

Astra 23E:

Quality - 79%
Almost all channels.

21.6 E:
Hardly anything

Astra 19E:
Strength - 97%
Quality - 82%
Can receive majority of channels.

Eutelsat 16E:
Strength - 92%

Eutelsat W1 10E:

Eutelsat W3 7E:

Thor 1W:
Strength - 94%
Quality - 66%
Only a few channels.

Amos 4W:
Strength - 91%
Quality - 19/20%
No channels.

Atlbird 5W:
Strength - 97%
Quality - 75%
Handful of channels.

Nilesat 7W:
Strength - 97%
Quality - 81%
Can recieve the "cabo" channels (is that correct?)

Telecom 8W:
Strength - 97%
Quality - 26%
No channels.

Atlbird 1:
Strength - 95%
Quality - 75%
Some channels.

Telstar 15W:

Hispasat 30W:

Well, what's the verdict? Do I need to call a pro installer, or is that pretty much right?
Also, can I get any sats past 30W? I've read things about going all the way to 58W. Any input much appreciated.

Those figures look reasonable apart from Turksat quality and Cabo on Nilesat. You may be able to receive a couple of satellites West of Hispasat, but the dish may be a little small.

Thanks for the confirmation. Dunno why Cabo's on nilesat, have to double-check. Regarding the other sats, could I pick up 58W or 60E?
There's another pic attached to give you an idea of dish size and relative line of sight.

Here in the states the hh-120 costs about double what the s-2100 costs and can move a larger dish , so it sounds like you got a good deal. I to plan on a setup like yours, the very next time my wife goes to visit her sister for a week or two.
