My Satellite Setup
Neco 1.8mtr dish motorised with moteck controller. Pace sky receiver. Hirschmann universal lnb,
My Location
Samos Greece
Have moved house, 500 mts and moved dish 1.8mtr Have lost sky sports news and sky sports extra. Anybody got any ideas??

Your dish is not installed right, with a dish that size the signal would be very high for those channels, so have a check that your pole is plumb and that you have the dish setup correctly.

Regards Wez

At my old house could only get sky sports news and sky sports extra in the evenings. When i do new install and enter 12.029 as default transponder both signal strength,s are ok. When I go to signal test have 90 % strength and 80% signal quality on input 2 and nothing on input 1

Sky sports news and Sky Sports extra are on 12148, H on Astra 2A north beam. Have you tried turning your lnb (skew) slightly?
Which digibox are you using? Pace 2600?

Not in Greece, Astra 2A north is weak in this area.

Have adjusted skew, no luck. Dish bracket is vertical. Using Pace 2600 box. Can get loads of other sats no problem, only horizontal transponders difficult to find on Astra 2. Any advice would be most welcome. I am an amateur, just want to watch Jeff Stelling saturday afternoon!!

Make sure your skew is exactly as it says here:

h**p://www.satlex.de/en/azel_calc-params.html?satlo=28.2&user_satlo=&user_satlo_dir=E&location=37.75%2C26.97&la=37.75&lo=26.97&country_code=gr&diam_w=75&diam_h=80

We really need somebody else from Greece to post here, your dish may be just too small........I just noticed your lnb, never heard of that model, maybe you should think of upgrading to an Invacom?

Did you move and resite the dish yourself?

have you damaged it in any way ... dish shape or lnb feed support arm/s

is the lnb in exactly the same place 'focus' wise as well as skew ... ( at the same distance from the dish face.)

are all the cables OK.. no kinks/ good joins ...and do they now run near mains or other cables

is there anything in the way towards 28.2/5e ... sometimes it can catch even seasoned installers out .. such as a tv aerial, tree branches, wall or rooftop, chimney cutting part or the bottom of the dish off, telephone or mains cables suspended from poles etc...

is there anything local that can cause minor interference but enough to knock weak 28.2/5e out..

is the receiver placed in an area that it gets very hot

was the previous site shading the lnb from the sun

just a few things to go at....

best of luck..

Good point. Do you know the make of your satellite dish? The Fortecstar ones are notorious for their thin metal dish and weedy arms and will almost deform if you breathe too heavily on them!
