UK but moving to Germany - Baden Wuttenberg
Hi guys, I'm really hoping someone can give me some simple advice.. We're currently sky+ customers in the UK but are moving to Germany (Karlsruhe in Baden-Wuttenburg) shortly and also want to get sky over there. (Apart from wanting movies and sports, with two young kids I NEED cbeebies!!)

We've been told that we can either change our UK address to another UK address (e.g. a family member without sky) and carry on our subscription as usual, or just get another card through a German third party provider.

Which is the best/simplest option? What would we need to tell sky in either event.

Just "move" the subscription to a friend / family location here in the UK, and keep the uk bank account going to pay for it.

If you use the third party provider you will have to pay their cut as well - probably half as much again minimum.

If you tell Sky anything about being in Germany they WILL kill the subscription instantly.

An 80-100 cm dish should be plenty for Astra 2D in Karlsruhe.

Yes I agree. I would say though that it is beter to go for a 1m dish or even bigger as I get bad reception with my 80cm dish if there is heavy rain - and I am closer to the UK than you. But other than that no problems with it. And yes, German TV sucks big time, better make sure you got your dighibox sorted :)

I'm quite a fan of German TV!

And AS is right, as soon as they know you're in Germany...Bang, card turned off.

thanks so much for your help, I REALLY appreciate you taking the time to respond.
Just one question... when I move my sky account to another address won't they check whether there's a dish there and presume I need a sky engineer to come and install the system? Do they check what the card/box is connected to?

They dont really care as long as you keep paying them, but if they ask just say theres an existing dish you have hooked the box up to

Make sure your installer gives you a quad LNB. As CBeebies is free to air you can then set up some additional receivers for the kids which will not affect your Sky+
