MPEG4 is the compression algorithm to try to squeeze as much information into as small a file as possible. DVB-S2 is the transmission method which aims to squeeze as much information into as small a transmission space as possible. They both work independantly and can be used together to maximise the compression effect.
HD is a nebulous term which, basically, just covers the number of lines of the TV picture. It's perfectly possible to send an HD picture in MPEG2 and DVB-S but it would take up too much transmission spectrum.
