i'm thinking of buying an ACER laptop, model252EX running on windows XP pro. has anyone tried to use this laptop with success to program their CAM and what are the problems encountered if any, pls clarify. TQ

Shouldnt be, though Windows XP is rather picky about selection of ports and allowing data straight into the programmer

Which CAM ?

I'm still using win98 with no problems at all....and updating the MR is fast :D

i think its the hardware rather than software on the laptops? as i tried 3 "modern" DELL laptops (or it could just be Dells) but nothing, no matter what i tried, i ended up using an ancient laptop made by commodore of all people - LOL!

i beleive from memory that toshibas are better for pcmcia also, as they have bios settings that u can change, phoenix ami-bios bios's that dell use have no settings therefore, old 16 bit cards are never detected - only the new 32bit cardbus cards.

pls correct me if im wrong. but this is what i found.
