i wanna kn ow from u some things about this good dish!

i made some test with my 3,7 with the new lnb from
INFOSAT

the one with C/ KU BAND inside in one
i can see that works very well in C BAND

but in the ku band
works no good
in fact i have some problem to receive the yamal ku band
that in my zone
is well received with a 2,00 m dish
so
i have an idea
or is the F/D that is no good
in fact the F/D of the dish is 0,37
the maximum F/D of the lnb is 0,5 or 0,7
input reflector type c band ku band
prime focus off set

you mean that this kind of lnb is no good
for the prime focus 3,7 prodelin????
or there is some other problems?????

if i order the kit for ku band illuminator
from them ( prodelin )
i have my dish with c band illuminator
u mean that i can install without any modify????
or i must modify the feed support bracket ( 4 )!!!!

My dish is still boxed up and unused yet, The feedhorn with mine is the correct one for the dish and just bolts on,

You can also use a adjustable feedhorn and set the F/D on the scalar ring, Use a invacom feedhorn it will work fine see it here http://www.invacom.com/products/adf_120.htm just set it the 0.37 by spinning the scalar ring to 0.37 marking on the feed neck

The thing is with Cband you can get away with a lot of thing which you can not on c-band such as on c-band the petals can be out of line and the dish will still work fine but with ku-band it is the opposite if the petals are out of line the dish will work poor,

It is well known that mesh dishes do not work well in ku-band. Somebofy claims that a 3m mesh dish performes in ku band as a 1.80 m normal dish, especially when a corotor (a combination of C band and ku band flange) is used. The performance of the dish also depens on the F/D ratio. Therefore, 3m mesh-dish with a dedicated flange (that is with the appropriate F/D ) with a dedicated ku lnb (invacom for instance) with a precise pointing = 2.00 m normal dish does not surprise me.

After many attemps to improve reception I replaced the original feed with one constructed by myself. The new feed allowed me to centre the focal point exactly. My dish is endowed with two motors (actuators superjack 36). When the signal is low, just 1 pulse may be crucial (12 pulses = 1 degree in my case).

On a dish of that size, you should be aiming for a motor drive gearing that allows finer pointing than 12 counts per degree.

Just for your information:
Even in Thessaloniki a 2.30m Famaval cannot guarantee permanent reception of all iranian SCPCs of 62E MidEast Beam whereas Amos 2 Israel Beam comes in fine.

The craziest satellite of all is Astra 2D. In Athens a 4m could not see anything some days ago, neither the prior mentioned 2.30m in Thes/niki. Any change on your dish ?
 
No trace of signals from Astra2d (either vertical or horizontal)

I have just finished errecting (and painting) my 3.7m Prodelin dish and have the same problem with mount for my Invacom Quad LNB. The Ku-Band feed that was shipped with the dish is similar to the detailed view on your right hand image, although it does not have a C-Mount flange but only rectangular feed connect plate.

Could you post more details of your mount as It looks as if I will have to make a similar version myself?

It is possible to ream out the rectangle to the correct flange size, C120 (or sometimes WC75 is used). In doing this in a number of passes on a lathe you can accurately get the best transfer size for the mazimum signal at the higher frequencies.

You may also need to drill and tap some new bolt holes.

Remember that it is better to be a bit too small than a bit too large.
 
I have just sent you a private message. Your lnb seems to have eight holes, and so it is a C120 type lnb. What is its brandt?

If you are using a Universal LNB you dont need the transition adapter with the rectangular hole. However your picture of the feed does not correspond with the Ku band feed shown in the manual which has a flange with drilled holes - this is shown as part number 0183-277.

Yes it is the wrong feed. My kit came with a 0183-579 Feed Horn, not the one you montion.

I have now decided to modify the feed horn along the lines suggested by Corviello. I have started a new thread describing my experiences with the Prodeline 3.7m dish here.
