Hi folks.

I've just purchased a MTI AP8-T2NRC Universal LNB to replace my Technosat univeral attached to my Fracrro Penta 68cm dish.

I hope I have done the right thing (the MTI range are not cheap).

I'm hoping to make some of the weaker signals I get on my small dish a little more stable. On 23E perticualarly, I can get all the weaker signals like BBC Prime for example (55-58% quality), but it breaks up at certain times of the day (usually as it gets dark) and anything below 52% and the signal is gone. But it is often just at the edge.

I appreciate I'll never get the weaker signals rain proof, but if I can just increase the quality by even 1% I could maintain a viewable picture in good weather.

I wonder if anybody has any experience of this LNB. Let me know what you think of them. The spec looks good on paper, but that is nothing like what users will find in the real world.

Please let me have your views on this product!

I've been Googling to read up as much as I can about this LNB. Need I be worried about this translated statement found on this website?

(Sorry about the long link)

It says: The High-Gain MTI LNB is for the weak satellite reception particularly suitable, for example, Türksat, AMOS. Furthermore, it should be used with a long cable length> 60m used. With strong satellites, for example, ASTRA may be replaced by the high output level> 90 dB overload on the receiver tuner come!

Could this LNB blow my tuner up? :-DOH!

The tuner will be fine. Too high a signal level.could cause some signal degradation due to overload, but the tuner will not fail.

Im a bit puzzled by your reference to BBC Prime on 23E - its not carried on 23E!

Thanks, that is good to know. Cheers.

As for BBC Prime, I've got it on 12.605V part of the Kabel Deutschland package it's on 3A. One of the good points about living on the Southeast tip end of the UK.

Well, that was a waste of time and money. It didn't work anything like my existing LNB.

It was really quirky too, I'd get a 83% signal quality on a few channels yet not enough signal on the adjacent channel on the same satellite. It was all over the place with no rhyme or reason.

The chap tried adjusting the LNB in all directions but nothing improved it. Many sats only showed up with 50-60% where previously I was getting 75-80%

Even on Astra 28E many of the channels didn't even want to know. I put my Technosat LNB back on and the quality levels zoomed up.

My conclusion is either I was sold a faulty product or the MTI doesn't like the Fracarro Penta dish or maybe the MTI model is pants. I had high expectations after reading many positive forum posts, but feel very disappointed with the results.

You live and learn! O-no
