Hi....Looking to install a system for a friend.....

Ok here goes....

He would like sky channels for his kids.....A bit of the other for himself if you know what i mean harry!!!

But being a good friend he wants the bloody signal sending to 4 different rooms....(don't think he's that bothered about changing channels in all places..

I was thinking of a gemini 70 cm dish with an easterly offset arm...

Sky LNB for sky and universal 0.2db to pick up hotbird..fed into a
Technomate TM 2 Way DiseqC Switch( but then this confuses me as sky is not a universal lnb???

Presumably i'll need some sort of amplifier( max run from dish is 35M..

For the receiver i thought a dreambox 500s but can this sort out the sky channels??
Think i read somewhere EPG was a problem....
I know you can activate a s*y card using the dreambox but can you buy them in the first place...
Anyways if anyone can give me a few pointers that would be cool...

Thanx for any rips....Top forum....

Ps just like to say if anyones bothered receiving art sports snr 80%
with my diddy 64cm triax...North west..

Sky use a universal lnb - its just the fittings are different for the fixing on the dish arm..

Sky receivers dont do disecq switching - you are far better off keeping the sky receiver feed from the lnb totally seperate from any other system.

use a 70 cm gemini alaigned to hotbird, use an easterly offset arm to mount a 2nd lnb alaigned to sky, run a seperate cable from each lnb to the main tv. for the hotbird feed use a technomate as these have a modulated rf output and for the sky use a digibox. connect the rf output from the technomate to the aerial input of the sky box now run a cable from the rf2 output of the skybox to a 4way amp and from there to each room. you will now have terrestrial channels, hotbird channel and sky channel in each room, with optional control of the sat recievers using a small bit of extra equipment

hope it helps

Cheers for the advice guys very helpful....

Digidude your plan sounds great however one small spanner.....i would like to CS with the hotbird connection....

Do any of the higher model dreamboxes have rf out??

Just had a quick search and found that the 5620 has an rf modulator so this
sounds like the one.....If anyone else has any ideas or a better way>>
Greatfully received

if you get a technomate 7655 or 7755 these can card share, a scart to rf modulator can be picked up for as little as £10 so you could use a dreambox 500s (to keep it as cheap as possible) connect the scart output to the rf modulator and still cardshare and sent the pictures to the whole house ;)

OK buddy thanx again..... I'll post again when install is up and running..(may be a while LOL)
