My Satellite Setup
Alden 80cn fullymotorised mounted on 72 foot Dutch Barge

Humax Foxsat Freesat

I bought the Foxsat last year and have it connected to an Alden motorised system which has a seperate controller to choose between 5 or 6 satellites, my questions are , can i by pass this controller and let the Foxsat control the dish ? is there a way to display only the programs available when tuned to a particular satellite ?
I am not really up to speed on all this and the tuning seems quite awkward to me, i seem to select satellites and the box tunes through but the list is just endless.

Any simple instructions please.

Thanks

These are specialised units, so as far as I know cannot be controlled by a v-box, the v-box is required to interface with a DiSEqC capable receiver.

Some satellite receiver will show channels satellite by satellite when this mode is selected either when viewing the channel list or as in the case of some, by pressing the sats button on the remote, not sure about the Foxsat.

PS. A few photos of the dish/motor and control unit uploaded would be interesting for our members to see.:)

You certainly can select Channel lists by Satellite:

In non-freesat mode, press List then Yellow (twice)

Scroll left/right to your desired Satellite.

It's quite straightforward after you have got familiar with it.

You can also use eg the Red button in List to select Recently Viewed, TV only, Radio only, HD only

There are all sorts of useful goodies lurking within - you just have to learn all the Foxsat's foibles first! :)

Just either Edit your Post or create a new one ....... scroll down below the Text Box and you'll see Attachment Manager, which allows you to upload then direct to the Forum.

It's a very user friendly function and should be self-evident.

Keep your JPEG sizes down below around 450KB and all will be well.

If they are too "big", and you don't have a tool to shrink them, download Pixresizer (qv). :)

Hi Pedro, it doesnt track if thats what you mean, i could not afford that at £3000 +
But it is very quick from folded away to lock on probably 30 seconds i have watched other people on boats roaring and shouting at each other trying to align dishes manually, not for me.
i will do a video in a minute and upload to you tube to demonstrate its searching probably list as Alden on Barge or something like that

So if the barge rocks, it regains position on the sat, but takes a few seconds?

Fascinating stuff.

Takes me back over thirty years to when I was involved in developing Marine SatComms Ship Terminal equipment - all those Gyros. Real brain ache material :-smile3

Is it wider than a Uk Barge? It looks like it is.

Sorry, looked it up and yes they are.:)
