My 1m fixed dish with 4 LNB setup

1m dish currently pointing at 5 degrees W to get French channels

Here's a couple of pictures of my 1m fixed dish, with 4 LNBs.

The dish is pointed at Sirius 4.8E.
The LNBs are picking up 28.2E, 19.2E, 13E and 5W. Since the photos were taken, I've swapped the 5W LNB for a dual LNB feeding two boxes - digital and analogue, to get more French channels than just on the digital output from 5W.

Nice strong signals from all four satellites, and plenty of channels to play with.

Nice set up Andy what dish and lnb's are you using?

Im a big fan of multi lnb set ups! Think ill have a go my self:)

Hi Andy.......nice setup what is the distance of the lnb between 13deg east and 5w.

I have a similar setup of 28.2,19,13,9 and am trying for either 0.8 thor or 5w on a im dish set on 19.2.

any help appriciated. cheers.
 
It's around 30cm between the 5W and 13E LNBs. The 19.2E is another 10cm or so further along.

I've since been donated an old sky dish, so I've set that up on 28E to get a better signal from there - in very bad weather, which we get a lot of here, I was struggling a bit with the 4LNB setup.

The signal from 5W is great with my digital box, but with an old analogue box I picked up recently (to get TF1) it's not perfect. Watcheable, but with a little speckling. I might, if I can be bothered, move the big dish round a bit more towards 5W given that I don't need the 28E signal from the same dish now.... when I get round to it, that is.

I've now got all four satellites feeding the bedroom and 5W feeding the sitting room, so I've got a nice selection of TV all over the place now.

Brilliant! Glad I've found this thread - this is the exact thing that I would like to do at some point as these are the 4 satellites I'd want. At least there's the option then of using a 1m dish; I was thinking of tracking down a Maximum T85 from France when I next go.

I would possibly have a 5°E LNB too, it's just the problem of DiSEqC switching with more than 4 feeds, although I have got a Dreambox so I know you can get round it, just not an expert on what I'd have to buy/do. :D

You can get those four on a 80cm mate, I have 7e,13e,19e & 28e on my 80cm perforated dish, when I was adding the LNB for 7e I slid it along to check out 5w & the signal levels were a plenty, remember 5w is a strong bird, unlike say the 16e slot.
 
That's very interesting to know thanks! And especially with you being in Scotland; this will be in the Bristol area so significantly further South. I only want the French channels from it which are on the strongest beam anyway. I think you could probably get France 2/3/5 etc. with a wet piece of string pointing at 5°W. :D

Your welcome mate, yes in your location it will be a piece of cake for 5w, on my setup I have 13e as the main bird & 28e as the furthest away mounted LNB.
 
How's the signal on 28.2°E? Is it prone to rain fade or does it hold up well? Also can I ask, what dish and multi-LNB bracket do you use? Cheers again mate.
 
The advantage of the Maximum T85 or Wave Frontier is that they are designed to maximize the signal over a wide arc and will always be much better than a standard dish.

The Maximum T85 is the equivalent of a 70cm dish over the range you intend so there will be no problems at the ends of the arc.

The Maximum T85 is 91cm x 71cm and can receive a 34 degree span of satellites, with the approximate performance of a 70cm dish (48-49dBW). Its a less complicated alternative to a toroidal dish and much better than fiddling with multi LNB brackets. The Wave Frontier is much bulkier as it has the big reflector on the front.

For reference, the Maximum T85 receives down to 48dBW in the centre, out to around 50dBW towards the edges, including the rain margin, over the practical range of circa 36 degrees.

If you put LNBs at the ends you can get the same range as the Wave Frontier, about 45 degrees. This requires around 52dBW at the ends for a decent rain margin. Few people seem do this in practice as it is fiddly.

LNB spacing is 4 degrees using LNBs with narrow caps, the Inverto Black Premium are very popular, having slim bodies and narrow caps which are smaller than the holder (and are cheap!).

DIY with an Inverto Multiconnect LNB should get 3 degree spacing.

The rain fade margin is good, if it wasnt the wife would have ran a bread knife through my chest within a week (It's Scotland, all it does is rain to one degree or another!). The dish is a perforated (What most people call "mesh", i.e. same as a $ky dish) 80cm ISS & the multi-bracket is a German made affair that clamps onto the excess collar of the main clamped LNB.
