Yes. Reception is hopeless when it's windy. The pole flexes a lot. However, it's high enough to see over all the surrounding trees and buildings, so it can pick up a lot of satellites.

It's a 9 foot aluminium scaffold pole standing on the roof and strapped to side of the chimney with 3 homemade brackets. I filled it with expanding foam to try and dampen the wobble, that was a mistake, I should have used concrete.

One day I'll replace it with a steel scaffold pole. I have a solid cast iron pole too (victorian lamppost), but it weighs at least 100kg and I'm not sure how I would get it up there or whether the roof would support it.

They are not my trees. I'm not sure who owns them. They are only really a problem for the lower east satellites.

I'm pretty happy with the current setup, except for when it's windy.

Zimba looking at your photo you would get just as much height on the gable end and you would be further away from trees mate + much stronger than chimney.

No, it sorted itself, a gust of wind brought the whole lot crashing down.

:-rofl2 :-lmao

It was fine until a particularly bad storm. The dish acted like a sail and the pole literally crowbarred the chimney off the roof. The whole lot fell through the roof of my conservatory.

I wonder big the trees have grown over the past 4 years, probably now need a much taller pole! :)
