Is that Sellotape (Scotch Tape) you're using around the LNB body and (if my eyes don't deceive me!) around the F connector/Cable?

If so, it won't last long as protection against moisture ingress. I don't know if you can get self amalgamating tape where you are located, but using that on the F Plug/Cable would be a much better idea :)

Stephen-

Is that a dual C/KU LNBF? Did you make it?

If so, I have two different makes and neither work good on KU when C Band is peaked.

What is your experience?

Diseqc operates from a serial data sent from receiver, 22Khz operates from tone on or off from receiver. If the receiver is powered on while moving cables you will ZAP that Diseqc port, time to get a new one.

If your KU lnbf is a Universal it has a built in 22kz switch, if a standard 10750 no switch. Your receiver would be configured for Diseqc first then 22Khz on or off second.

Maybe this will help; _http://www.satelliteguys.us/fta-mpeg2-faqs/133444-diseqc-1-0-1-1-1-2-1-3-whats-all-mean.html

Sure it is Sellotape! I just worked with the available materials. I'm not sure of the existence of self amalgamating tape in our shops, but will look for it. The Sellotape held the things for two weeks till I put wood glue-I dont know how long that can work on those metals.

What I experienced though - I am going to trouble shoot, was loss of signal.

If you cant get self amalgam tape then duck (gaffer) tape is better than sellotape - its not ideal but will last a lot longer !

Thanks Analoguesat;

How about WOOD GLUE (the type that is milky-white and turns like plastic when dry)? I have it at home for my miscellenious, and have already deployed it on the lnbs.

It sounds like you are talking about PVA glue (White Glue). PVA Glue is not water proof, so I wouldnt recommend it.

I'd imagine it would get brittle and break up from exposure to the elements.

Hi sat-mates, thanks for the assistance you gave me last year when i had alot of questions. In July, we were talking about whether the wood glue would hold my combo LNBs. Well, am happy to tell u that the glue has held till today with no problem. In trestingly, it has even survived an el nino. Keep up the fire. See u again.

In the old days it used to be possible to get a big plastic cover that would go over the LNB. You could always make one from a big white plastic bottle to keep the sun and rain off, if the glue ever starts to wear off. :)

For sure I forgot and one day I blew ports 1 and 2! There is a day i thought i had blown 3 when the middle copper wire touched the side of the port and there was a small spark. Fortunatly, it still works.

People in this part of the world also do that, but I was discouraged by the techinician who installed for me that it does not have much work. Besides, this has showed me it really works. Every Monday, I have carried that lnb combo upcountry to work, and carry it back on Friday for more than a year now! But nothing haas happened interestingly.

Thanks kwp58, I now have combined IS 906 C with IS 7?10 Ku band. When I get out of examinations (I am back to school), I'll embark on adding those sats as you advised me. I am now alittle bit wiser! LOL

The "BOMB" indeed was myself recently when i wanted to combine IS 906 and IS 7/10 Ku, I dismantled it! I suprised myself that it worked untill I told it to stop.

The lnb on the right is what I am trying to use to get Thaicom2/5 at 78.5 Deg E

Be aware that Thaicom 2 is now off air at 78.5E. She is moving and being redeployed to somewhere around 50E.

I think then I still can catch Thaicom 5?

@all satemates, can any one upgrade a digital reciever to do mpeg4 by software or some circuit bord?
