My SAT-playground

chap from another forum did all the calculations and drawing

Hi, can You post a link to this forum.
Interesting modification. So You cut out original feedhorn part from BU.
I can try this on My 3M link dish. F/d=0,3

If you are happy with my drawing, there it is 123.webp . Download it and print in such a way that size on paper is same as digits on the drawing.

This is unimportant detail. Anyway, the dish is nice and unique. :) And, BTW, you are God-father of this dish :rolleyes:

I know, it is still some time till X-mas, but weather was OK today and I decided to do some decorations. in the yard. ;) It is only 14 meters of lamp string is needed to do one loop. I think I will make some decorations to other dishes as well. IMG_20171104_171433.webp IMG_20171104_171410.webp

I've got new toy today. Another toy (CAM-module with card for several 4K channels) will arrive soon.

What configuration of tuners did you get RimaNTSS? I see there's a "+1xDVB-T/C" so it has an added DVB terrestrial/cable combo tuner as well as how many sat tuners?

I'm curious for the performance of Gigablue:
-What are some weak signals that still can be received? (And, of course, with which dish and LNB ). And how is the low signal reception compared to other receivers?
-How low is the lowest symbolrate that you can receive?
-Which multistream/PLS/MI-T2 transponders van be received?
-Is blindscan possible? If so, what's the performance of the blindscan?

@Lexzie so many questions to which, most likely, I will not be able to give objective answers. I am using for many years in parallel Dremboxes (7000s, 500s, 600s, 800s, 8000) and GB receivers (GB Quad, GB Quad Plus, and now also GB 4k). TBH, I do not see much difference in performance of those 2 brands. I think it is not easy task to compare 2 different receivers. Quality of the displayed picture is also very subjective. Of course, 4k is much faster receiver than anyone I've used before.
What I can, and probably will do- will choose some transponder from Astra 2E (UK beam) and do signal level monitoring on GB 4k and DM 8000 and then try to compare results.

That's nice, but all the other questions I find much more important.
About if the GB can receive multistream, low symbolrates (how low?), DVB-S2X? and if GB has a blindscan function (and does it find all frequencies?).

@Lexzie Will check all that due time. But, it would be much easier for me if you give me some examples of transponders (multistream, low SR, DVB-S2X). With BlindScan I have very small experience and it is not so positive because of the fact that after blind scan frequencies from different satellites scanned and made a big mess :-doh. But, will check that possibility as such.
Add later: Yes, there is Blindscan. How good is it.... I do not know. ScreenHunter_547 Feb. 20 08.26.webp

I will give some examples ASAP.

Let me predict:
- multistream- NO;
- DVB-S2X - NO;
- Low SR - perhaps.... but not very low.

No multistream and no DVB-S2X surprises me, this article says all Gigablue receivers (with the right tuner) should have it: Multistream - OpenPLi Wiki

That was just my prediction. Will check it someday.

Thanks for trying. Could still be depended on the image you use and if you have the new NIM SP2246T tuner.
