Hi,

Your longitude is 8.71W not -8.71W

So yes, you should do your initial setup on 8W.

So if trying to set up a motor without using USALS, you would set it to 0.71E.

Better still, go to USALS mode if you have it, put in your longitude and latitude, and let USALS set the position.

Latitude = 42.2369, Longitude = -8.7164
Lat = 42 degrees, 14.2 minutes North
Long = 8 degrees, 43.0 minutes West

If you want to point a satellite TV dish at Satellite= 8 West orbit longitude
Dish elevation= 41.2, Azimuth= 184.5 (magnetic compass), Polarisation= -0.8

i think =

42.23 N
8.71 W

If using DiSEqC 1.2 then move the motor manually 0.71 in an Easterly direction (0.71E) as already mentioned. It is only a small movement :)

It is receiver and hardware specific. I have done it on my TM a few times with just a few button presses.(Press the East arrow, until it looks like its about right, and then store as 8W) Someone who uses a V-box should be able to provide any extra details pertaining to using those.

0.71 of a degree wouldn't make too much of a difference with eg. an 80cm but a larger dish such as yours requires this setting to be correct at the start :)
