Hi, quick question for you guys.

I'm considering getting a Sky Italia subscription and a new dish installed for it.

Would I be able to use the the subscription card that somewhere like TVcorner are selling with an italian sourced SKYHD PVR (thinking ebay.it) in order to use the recording facility just like the UK Sky+?

Anyone got any experience of doing this?

Having the official HD-PVR would be preferable to just having a simple HD decoder.

You'd have to match the card and box and get the recording facility switched on by calling the Italian Sky center which will be a problem from Glasgow!

Ok, I'll have to think about something else/more basic for recording it (e.g. DVD Recorder). I was under the impression that the Sky Italia card was not paired to the decoder in the same way that they are in the UK.

I am thinking of buying a VU+ Duo receiver as well.
I believe that it is possible to also use an official Sky Italia card unofficially in this receiver with the right information.

Cards are paired to pvr boxes to enable the recording facility. The card would still work in other boxes as usual.
Yes, you can use VU+ Duo with the correct softcam and boxkey, not 100% sure if you have to put the card back in the official box every month for updates though. Hopefully someone else can help you with that.
