Name that dish

Not exactly the quiz of the week I know but can anyone recognise what brand of dish this 1,2m is, I've been told it's aluminium.

If its going cheap buy the dish if its not warped.

I didn't want to suggest anything when I first posted but I thought it was a Gibertini too, but just in case it is warped it's a good job I only paid 99p for it It's just round the corner from where my daughter is at Uni so I'm hoping it'll fit in her Corsa for the 300 mile drive home at Easter.

Well the lnb arm and back mounting plate certainly are gibertini.

Will be a good dish once setup on a polar mount, wouldn't risk it on a diseqc motor.

The reflector is quite easy to knock out if it is warped , I would be more inclined to measure the backdoor of the Vauxhall now, as the minimum dimension is 1.25m, and your daughter may still have to be strapped to the roof if she has luggage.

I've measured wifeys Corsa and I think it will fit at an angle but if it doesn't the contingency is for her to put it in a people carrier type cab and get it to hers, worst way will be to have someone look after it till September when we go down for her Graduation. I like the idea of putting her on the roof though although it will probably go down as well as me suggesting she carries it the 3/4 mile home if it doesn't fit.

One thing I've learnt today, a 1.2m Gibertini does not fit into a Corsa It was always going to be tight but kinda hoped it would lol Assuming I don't find someone with a large vehicle travelling between Plymouth and Brighton in the next few weeks my plan B is to get the train down just before Easter (found a ticket for £26) and tie it to the roof of her car and share the driving home ( I can't wait till September to collect it in ours). Not quite the bargain of the century it was but still a right result

There's another good point to this saga, my 1m Gibertini that I'm using at the moment is going to a new home, in fact to the person who gave me his 1.2 Precision. He's been keen to get back into satellite for a while so my Gib couldn't go to a better person. The Prof 8000 has been ordered, everything else has arrived and I'll be loaning him my old 85cm till Easter. We'll be setting it up at the weekend assuming the forecast is correct and he's also the person that logged 75°E ABS1 so watch this space!

Had an email in overnight from my friend with the new Prof card and my old 85cm dish. I set it up for him on Saturday although had to go back yesterday to lend him a Best 0.1 LNB as his Black Ultra was DOA. Anyway, this channel line up was included in the email, I'll try and get some more info from him later today.

Wow! 75E on an 85cm dish! Amazing! Where does your friend live?

He's on the south coast too, a few hundred metres in from the clifftop and about 2Km west of the Meridian. ABS1 is 0.7° elevation here so quite low. He's still getting upto speed with the software so didn't get any screengrabs or TS info but he'll definitely do it next time. It was clear skies when he captured it last night but not much chance of getting it now with the rain and cloud. We were both surprised my old 85cm mesh got it but it bodes well for the 1m Gibby and BU! This is a still from a video I took on Saturday and I've added a red mark to show the position of ABS1.

We were both surprised my old 85cm mesh got it but it bodes well for the 1m Gibby and BU!

The mesh dishes are actually not bad and you will have no problem with that Gibertini! O-Ha

You may get just as good a signal with the Precision 1.2m. Whilst many were indifferent, every now and then a reflector would come off the production line that was absolutely superb.

Btw, the ABS northern footprint, lucky indeed to catch it at Brighton.

Satbeams show it as running out around Portsmouth, just a pity he hasn't got C band as Apstar at 76.5E is 0.1 elevation lol
