Still no sun here ( arrives/reappears 10 february ) spotted this nacreous cloud last evening.

nacreous clouds.jpg

Taken through the living room window, the top of that mountain is 785 meters above sea level ~560 meters higher than house level.

Click here for a whole collection of nacreous cloud formations viewed from around here in the last 24 hours, of course I missed them completely

My resident robins are busy feeding so I am seeing a lot of them at the moment, one of them however seems to have changed it's markings, it has gone white around the eyes and lower chest, I have never seen this before and wondered if it was like us silver surfers and only something that shows with age. Sorry about the poor quality of snaps however my camera is at least 5 years old and long in the tooth also I took these through rain splattered windows

Might be a sub species.

Canary Islands robin
The most distinct birds are those of Gran Canaria (E. r. marionae) and Tenerife (E. r. superbus), which may be considered two distinct species or at least two different subspecies. It is readily distinguished by a white eye-ring, an intensely coloured breast, and a grey line that separates the orange-red from the brown colouration. Its belly is entirely white.

You could be correct, but, alas, like Topper, I have to fall back on theory 1

More likely to be Leucistic, I have a Blackbird in my garden with a white collar, even after several yearly moults, it has retained the collar, the picture below is from november 2012, but he's still around.

I think Rolf is probably correct, it seems we have a family of Leucistic Robins now and something I have never seen before is them feeding direct from the fat ball feeder, they normally just pack around underneath for scraps

I do not know who is more confused me or my resident robin, who is now full of eggs , has lost nearly all of her red breast and is looking distinctly more like a chicken every day
