Just got back from the Ken Bruce fest and found it straight away, as already identified by Rolf

I've two young birds squatting on the path going nowhere. One shown here - Blackbird? I can step over them without their moving at all. Left some water down, but they're not interested.

Easy prey for any Magpies etc., so I placed them in the nearest bush. Perhaps their parents have been taken?

Today's discovery. Speckled under, blue top. Very small, & very nice.

Adonis Blue ?

Might even be a Common Blue.

Hard to distinguish, really: The underside is a match for the Common Blue, but the Ups are veined more like the Adonis.

Just the one that I can see hopping around now, much livelier, chirping and looking skywards.

My neighbour, who seems to know these things, suggests leaving them be and hope they're rounded up by mum or dad.

Nice, not seen an Stag beetles this year yet, the seond one is a Skipper, not sure which one without checking though.

Small Skipper, methinks.

Pointier wing-tips than the similar Large Skipper.

Somewhat perversely, they are fairly similar in size.

And a new kind this afternoon. Midsize, brown\white top, black\white under. Nice looking.

The lavendel planted short time ago proved very useful, many stop there and get very occupied, so can get close and move around to get some decent shot.
