I have a 10 year old Humax foxsat, I bought it originally in 2005 as I have a Samsung 720p tv, and the foxsat upscaling improved the picture quality immensely.....BUT.....from new the box seemed to have a slight problem receiving a signal from specific remote buttons, such as a very poor "OK" and channel changing initiation buttons being the main culprits while all others work first time every time, the matter has got worse as time has passed by, changing the remote batteries makes no difference, using a infra red detector I can see that the remote is working every button every time, it seems to be the box thats the problem so I have decided to retire the old girl and buy a replacement. I would like to purchase a receiver with upscaling ability to get my 720p tv picture quality up to scratch...I dont want any recording facility , I would like a quality set, what can you recomend.

The problem you describe sounds exactly like the problem I have had with my sky box remote for many years. If you open up the remote and examine the underside of the carbon rubber buttons that close the circuit on the board you will find what appears to be oil, indeed that is what it is, it weeps from the pores of your skin and travels though the button which is a carbon impregnated neoprene rubber. Cleaning that off and cleaning the contact area of the circuit board will more than likely improve ( if not solve) your button problems.

Thanks for that folks, ive ordered a replacement Remote tonight, will let you know hoh I get on when it arrives next week.

Thanks for the help everyone, I bought a new Humax remote and the freesat menus are now working fine. thanks for the help i appreciate it.
