Need a new meter!

Calling all Gods, SC´s and good old members of THE FORUM!

I have, for some strange reason, decided to invest in a new meter to help me set up the dishes I frequently install.

Having given up Lee´s eye and the 14" portable tv, now using a Smart S1 ( which is a chocolate teapot! ) have decided to go up market.

If money was no object, ( which it obviously is ) what would you buy!

i would look at the fs1-pro hd meter from first strike,it's going for £270 the reports on the fs1 s1 meter where very good! i havent seen any test reports on the s2 version yet but think it is worth a look.

TKS for the input, but I was thinking a little more up-market! The S1 was 300, does it´s job but is very limited. I´m thinking closer to 4 figures?

Since you're in España, maybe a ProMax would fit the bill (Spanish mfg)?
I have used the TV Explorer II+ with great results, only downside is the size and weight (the FS1 being far lighter and handier).
Decodes video and all, even takes CAMs so you can decode non-FTA stuff. 4-figure price tag though.

ProMax II must be about 3000€. For that money could get a Televés.

Weight is no problem when your used to a 14" tv, Comwell receiver and Less Major´s eye!

Everything depends on the use to work or only occasionally adjust an antenna, as always, these devices are not cheap.
Not if they are active offers Promax HD Ranger, read carefully, prices and data had Whatsapp for "elMaestro" but I can not see, the phone was broken.
I have done a similar Rover SRM-50 TV Explorer (no HD) and smaller screen.

http://www.promax.es/esp/productos/medidores-de-campo-tv-cable-satelite

The SAT-Link Meters are for adjusting an antenna occasionally (unprofessional) and consumption do not support + LNB engine, care, in the best delivered 400miliamperios and peak engine is 350miliamperios.
The LNB IBU (Inverto Black Ultra 0'2dB.) can have a maximum consumption of 120miliamperios, we have 470miliamperios.
From this family I could see the model WS-6932 SATLINK, satellite, SD and HD channels, only gives 350miliamperios, engines no thanks. To adjust only one, really expensive.Out cheaper call "The Master" and we adjust the antenna. The spectrum analyzer brings not true for a lot, knowing you have an active tp and little else.

--------------

http://www.promax.es/esp/productos/medidores-de-campo-tv-cable-satelite

Good website, and that machine makes my S1 look stupid, but unless I find better, will go for the Emitor!

Cheaper on Ebay or buy in China. No problemo.
Mas barato en Ebay o comprar en China. No problemo.

All life with MS-250 Promax Satfinder to locate satellites.
To tune to 100%, scheduled FTE S-200 tuner and monitor / TV 14 "which later changed to LCD monitor 7".

Asked cheaper meters, give options.:-lol
I gauges Promax, Rover / explorer, Fluke, Beckman, BMI, second hand are not cheap, even more expensive than those gauges.

As the first day, no other is used./Como el primer dia, no se usar otro.

PS: China always ask a sample, if I like, I buy more.;)

¿So to fine tune you still use sat receptor and monitor?

New to sat meters and just been given the First Strike FS1-SE. ¿Appreciate you set up close to the dish with the meter but does the length of the coaxial from the meter to LNB degrade the meters reading ie: would there be a false/different reading using a 20m length as opposed to a 2m length of cable?

Feliz Pascua.

Did a quick check on the net for the Promax Ranger and found a cheap site in the US only $6,300!
I know I said 4 figures, but was thinking single 4 figures, not multiple!
Still thinking Emitor at the moment.

The Promax MS-250 and S-200 tuner FTE sleep in the closet, and discuss in another post, currently use a gauge Rover SRM-50 (+/- Promax esplorer) I have on loan for years (2008, 1700 € uros then).

The theme of the cable length if you ask in relation to the logitud wave is always important, was 18 when I first cake at a facility 27Mhz. (From 14 manufacturing antennas for friends without problems) measured the cable (RG213 military grade) to avoid problems and removing the stationary meter (SWR / SWR) + 1'5metros extra cable station got into the red zone stationary and somewhat deaf, I added 1.5 meter cable and issue solved.

In our parabolic, which travels down the wire is 950 MHz to 2150MHz, which are 0'315 0'139 meters and meters (wavelength), 1/4 wave is between 7'9cm and 3'5cm.
Out of habit I always use 1.5 meter cable low loss (28dB/100m, I live in 1'13 /1'33millimeters) to measure and cable installation is the same characteristics (motorized / satellite problematic).
For installations with 50cm antenna, one more normal, but good (30dB/100m).

The issue of cable length for lost signal, using this cable (28dB/100m), if you measure 2 meters (-0'56dB.), to then measure 20metros, you would have signal (+/-) 5'6dB less.
Remember that you 0'5dB lost per connector "F" if using pressure adapter connectors, have more losses.
Remember, if you use a switch / DiSEqC 2-4 mouths, will have a minimum 2-3dB lost if 8-16 mouths, and spent a + 5dB to be really as 2 switches in series (EMP-Centauri).
http://www.emp-centauri.cz/index.php?lang=en&page=prodview&id_kateg=1&id_pkateg=21&id=63
http://www.emp-centauri.cz/index.php?lang=en&page=prodview&id_kateg=1&id_pkateg=21&id=284

For powerful satellites that need 50-60cm antennas is no problem, for technical / feed links you can not put these teams.

PS: Thanks, but do not celebrate these holidays.:-doh
-------------------------

http://www.emp-centauri.cz/index.php?lang=en&page=prodview&id_kateg=1&id_pkateg=21&id=63
http://www.emp-centauri.cz/index.php?lang=en&page=prodview&id_kateg=1&id_pkateg=21&id=284

Thanks for that Tururu, all an interesting read and yes I do have a temporary 'F' joint connection which is why I am about to order a C-Band twin LNBF.

Gracias. :)
