Hi all,

I've got a weird problem. I've lost all my channels and settings so I had to setup the box and scan the channels again.

I've got a single LNB with motorized dish and using USALS.

I started with Astra 19.2. So, to make sure I'm facing the correct sat, I selected the strongest transponder. For Astra 19.2 it's 11597V, 22000. T got 99% so I knew I was on the right track.

Then I did an automatic network scan and it only found about 200 (mostly paytv spanish) channels. It missed out all german FTA channels.

So then I selected a particular transponder to scan (in this case 12188H, 27500). I got 0% quality. After a lot of trial and error, I found out that if I changed the transponder frequency to 12192 (ie. add 5 to the original frequency), I get the channels I wanted.

So to get back my channels, I had to manually scan for them and everytime adding 5 to the original frequencies. This applied to both vertical and horizontal.

Anyone ever encountered this problem? Do I need to replace my LNB?

Would changing the LNB frequency from the box solve this problem?

Probably would, give it a try, but the LNB is on its way out, better to change it.

Yes Im with the others - replace your lnb. If its that far out total failure is probably not too far round the corner.

If you live somewhere with hot summers you may need to replace the lnb every 3 or 4 years, depending on how badly it gets cooked every year.

Would changing the LNB frequency from the box solve this problem?

Yes it would absolutely. It is either a LNB-problem, or a receiver-problem: either of those could have a frequency shift.

If you have a 'universal' LNB with LOFs 9750 and 10600, set them (with manual LOF-choice) to 9755 and 10605 in your receiver. Then all frequencies are shifted, and the frequency number you see on your screen is OK again (and the same as given by a network scan). If you're lucky it could work for several years.

I once had a LNB with unstable (temperature-dependant) LOFs myself; I had to change the LOFs every summer and winter. A bit unusual, but it worked okay for some years. Till I finally changed the LNB, because I wanted more signal quality on that satellite position. But if it worked perfectly otherwise, I would probably still use it..
