Hi, my router is upstairs and Dreambox if I get one will be downstairs. To avoid long wires would I be able to set the connection up via either usb wireless adapter or a wireless bridge? If so would it effect performance eg possible freezing?

cheers

I have done 2 installs lately and have used powerline adapters on both. No configuration necessary, just plug n play. I used 85mbs devices and they work fine. £40 a pair off Amazon

My parents are in the same situation as you, so I've set up a wireless link using a Lynksys WRT54G. It works well and doesn't freeze any more than a wired connection would.

If you have to go out and buy hardware, you are probably best of going with powerline adaptors for simplicity.

I just happened to have a router lying about.
