Never buy samsung bluray products. All defective, cheaply made and horrible service. damn u samsung
 
Very broad statement powel000...I've had a samsung bluray player and found it to be of excellent build quality and superb picture quality!!!

Can only concur Gandalf ..
Still using my BDP-1400 ...
Never had an issue with it ...picture is excellent.
I chose this model specifically as it has audio component outputs which I needed to drive the external amp inputs of my Denon surround amp.
This being the only method by which I can access Dolby TrueHD audio....as the bandwidth is too large to pass by spdif/toslink

I'd be interested to know what has brought powel000 to say that. It must have been a very bad experience.

Last year, I bought a Samsung DVD/hard disc recorder. It was just out the box, I tried it, and it froze completely when trying to record something on the HD. It froze on four attempts to record something, so I took it back to the shop.

TO MY UTTER SURPRISE, the manager offered A REPAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you believe it, a repair on a supposed brand new machine. I refused, so he offered me a replacement. I refused that and after some arguing he gave me my money back.

So you're right, a shoddy product, but not Bluray in this case.
