New DM800HD clone?

I know that this might be common question but I had no other place to go to and ask. A friend of mine got me a new DM800HD and he has assured me that it is original not clone, but have still some doubts. The software is blackhole v10. The dream box had no plastic covering stuck to the top with vent holes. It is fitted with a fan inside and not heat sink. It had all cables inside even scart and wires to fit in hard disk. I know you can verify some way or other but found no Genuine Dreambox plugin. Is there anything els I can look out for that might give me an indication. Thanking you for all your future help.

I'm certainly no expert in this field at all but from what I've previously read, that looks like a genuine as there's a chip on the modem pcb.

how much you pay for this dm800?
when the price is around 300€ in europe ,then you can be sure that is a clone nearly 400 € is the normal price!
send the picture to dream multimedia then you defenatly you get the right answer ,about is it a clone or not!

in asia dm 800 (clone)sold for 200€,many dealers on ebay,import large numbers of this got a lot of discount,pay maybe only 150€ and sold on ebay for the double,and make a lot of profit!
also amazon market place sellers on amazon uk sells dm 800 clones,i report this to amazon,the only say,we are sory about this,and forwarding the information the the right place,where ever this is,i dont know!

i never buy i dreambox again on ebay,in the last 2 years i bought 3 dm 500.for friends also.. and all of them was clones!
many clones in the meantime,from china,does not "only" have a misarable picture quality,also problems,with the eathernet,coz of low budget components inside..!
 
I didn't think Originals had heatsinks or fans? (not sure if DM has changed the design). Usually clones have them.

Also you can usually tell if the sim card is glued in. (big dob of glue on sim on Originals)
Another check should be the modem,
check top and underside (slide finger under). You need to look for amount of chips on the modem card.

Also the Sata connector in the pics look like a clone.
 
I am listing the following results of my Dreambox from what has been sent to me and it is looking as a 50/50 but I am sure that any expert out there can give me a clear indication on the following:

Housing screws: Like Clone also at the back.
Surface of the Housing: Like original
HDMI Kabel: Similat to clone packed in PE-LD ( with a triangle )plastic bag.
Power Supply Unit: Like original
Modem: Like original covered with plastic foil and chips same as original.
DreamBox Security SIM Card: White and not glued
CPU Cooler: No CPU Cooler but has a fan neatly fitted.
Label on mainboard: Like clone but no DM 800 written.

Use the plugin I have attached.Install it the usual way, then it will give you a code that you have to enter on the Dream Multmedia website. _http://www.dream-multimedia-tv.de/en/authenticity-test . This is what it says on the site.

Wish to say thanks to all who helped me out the final result was that the dreambox was a clone but was a 50/50 as some of the parts were of original origin. In actual fact this was returned and I will be getting an original. Thanks.
 
Other than the fact that its not made by DM, what are the big differences?
I've just received a suspected clone so quite interested in making sure its not just a pile of....

cheers, though I was more wondering what the differences in performance etc was like.

I've just plugged the box in, pretty certain its a clone...
I have to say I'm quite disappointed with how it works, the Image is jerky (where the old DM7020 is working fine)..
 
Certainly a clone. Its all back to front compared to mine.
 
Despite the common view that the DM8000 is overpriced it should also be remembered that clones are made as cheap as possible. The one shown in the picture above looks cheap compared to a real DM8000. The genuine item is real quality, everyhing fits exactly, even the casing must have been made by Audi.
 
So now comes the fun and games trying to get some money back...
I've had Dreamboxes for a long time and always been happy with them so wasnt trying to cut corners by getting a clone.
 
Best contact your creit card company if you paid with a credit card. Otherwise ring the local trading standards if it was sold as a genuine item.
 
Thanks, yes it was sold as a genuine Dreambox. Bought it through Paypal and have raised a dispute.
 
The following shop(satellitenwelt.c-m) here in Germany wont put you wrong when looking for your next Dreambox. It is owned & run by the same person(Alpaslan Karasu) whom is registered in the courts in Dortmund by Dream Multimedia as their MD. I had a problem with a clone Dm 800 recently which was sold to me as an original & after contacting them they confirmed my suspicians. So i sent my clone back, got my money back & ordered from them. They allowed me to suggest a price (fair) & when i announced i would drive the 40km to their shop or 55km to the Dream head office in Lünen to pick it up i got the original box for €345 & great support. As i say it is not in their interests to sell clones!!!!
