New dvd recorder

my present dvd recorder is not responding..... i ve tried pulling plug out for a few mins
but still no joy.
Its prob 15 years old by now... I prob need to get a new dvd recorder
I wonder could anyone point me in the direction of a good option ?

on amazon some of the machines show you the back and some dont
one I saw seemed to have just one input socket...looked like hmdr socket...
while I want to have a feed from my sat dish ( my tech mate box) and another
feed from my astra channels....( basically freeview ) the sky astra box

so hmdr cable will do one... the other will prob have to be scart ....

would appreciate any advice... its a big purchase ... prob £300 ? so I want to get it right !

thinking about it ... I recently purchased a new techmate box and it is tiny... 5 inch by 5 inch ?
and that only has one hdmr output socket.... my old big size tech mate had scart sockets.... so this
new box will have to use the hdmi option
 
I doubt you'll find a DVD recorder that can record from HDMI. If it lacks any analogue video inputs then it will likely only be able to record from its internal tuner, usually Freeview.
