Hi Folks

I've offered to install a basic, fixed dish system for my Spanish Brother-in-law, and am looking for some suggestions. Just looking for free to view stuff as I dont think he'll want to subscribe. All I'm really looking for is the best satellite to point at for Spanish TV, recommended dish size (Edinburgh) and what basic receiver to buy.

Thanks in advance
John

Hi John,

Either Astra1 or Hispasat 30W. Dish size 60cm/70cm for either satellite.

Pretty much any FTA receiver will be up to the job ;)

Thanks for that, easier than I thought, and smaller dish-size than I expected too.

If he has family that are still living in Spain, he might want them to ask an installer/satellite shop out there about obtaining a "TDT por Satélite" receiver. They're designed for people in Spain who can't get digital terrestrial, but I believe the installers out there do sell them to other people as well. It's a one off cost and then you get all of the major national channels for free.

Either way though, the dish needs to be as described, aligned to 30°W.

Yes, he does, and think he visits Zaragoza next month so will ask him to get a receiver there. Thanks.
