Any joy with low symbol rate transponders? The primo I have doesn't do anything below 1500sr.

My 8008 decodes down to 250k and the SX88+ down to 333k sr so you should get at least this I hope

I tried again with a PLL LNB, on 23.5e 11675v 999 works but takes a while to lock, get nothing on 12640v 940 -may need more signal. Interestingly 12642v 280 locks on the transponder list but nothing scans in.

Still, no mention of an update for loss of DiSEqC Motor control when the SX88-4K is powered down from the mains supply,
As I am running the SX88+ on the 88cm dish & the SX88-4K on the 100cm dish I have to switch off the power to one of the receivers otherwise the remote controls both receivers :( as the Remote Control codes are identical for the SX88, SX88+, SX88 Optima & SX88-4K ?? Why !!
The SX88+ retains it's DiSEqC motor memory when powered off but the SX88-4K looses it's DiSEqC memory :N

Looks to me that there's an actual hardware design fault with the 4K version that causes that to happen, and because of that it can't be fixed by a f/w update - otherwise they've already had plenty of time to fix it, but they haven't "come clean" and admitted that to be the case!

There is also a problem with the SX88-4K tuner loosing signals temporally giving rise to signal break up when I switch to the SX88+ there is no signal problem on the same transponder.

Could be "related" - maybe even more h/w faults? - to what I just said!

This all indicates very inadequate testing of the 4K prototypes in a rush to get the model out to the market - unfortunately not at all unusual in the electronics industry in my (quite long!) experience! - and now they are "stuck" with a product which basically "does not work", but they can't admit that for "commercial reasons" (and because some people in Octagon have "egg on their faces" - BIG TIME!)

Quote: Now they are "stuck" with a product which basically "does not work as intended", SX88-4K has a lot of potential hopefully a software upgrade will improve the receiver's performance,
But maybe some hardware writing may be at fault.

Basically that's what I implied, but you can rarely fully fix h/w "problems" by f/w or s/w fixes - thus, unfortunately, the "problem(s?)" will probably only be "fixable" by "revised" h/w - i.e. a "new" product (thus "SX88 4K..... Version 2", "etc") . Sometimes "similar" problems do get fully fixed by major changes, but are rarely sufficiently ameliorated by minor mods, and often lead to substantial "business problems" and then "total business breakdowns" (was made redundant "about" 5x times, and close to that on a number of others, due to issues not unlike the one(s) under discussion here) :(

IMHO, Octagon should now admit that the current 4K version is "flawed", bring out a new and "FULLY FUNCTIONAL" "Version 2" and then offer to replace existing "Version 1" units (Free of Charge, of course!) with the newer one - that would hopefully "pacify" owners of existing "non-functional" "Version 1" units and reassure potential new buyers that Octagon is a reputable and reliable company with which to deal, and that therefore what they then purchase will work as advertised.

OTOH. will that actually happen..........?

Thank you all for the information in this thread. I have read enough to know that I won't be buying the
Octagon SX88-4K receiver as too many flaws come with it. I will look for another 4 K receiver to finally get into the 4 K market.
I still have an Octagon SX88 that will never receive French sound so I don't need another duff receiver to go with it.
Careful observation and wise buying choice is the way to go.

Ah ok I should say the low symbol rates were from amateur radio video feeds on the QO100 portion of 26 east btw. I'll try 23.5 sometime

I had a SX88 but returned it for a SX88+ to get the French sound

What LNB or frequency shifter are you using for QO100? :)

@william-1

Are you going to take up that offer from Octagon???

No need atm as the latest Firmware (Software) Update V10532 16-09-2020 (#58) has solved the picture glitching,
Pictures are rock steady now on all satellites.:)
Thank you Octagon :Y
