using a Jepssen ST HD3 (that is a "twin receiver", italian OEM, of Vantage 8000 HD) I can easily receive BBC channels at 27.5w, btw no chanche of watching them as they are biss encrypted (not an issue for me as I can get Astra2D)

the Jepssen ST HD3 can pick very high SR without any problem, I receive and see the russian RSCC package at 53° east with a 44950 SR
RSCC in 53º is DVB-S/MPEG-2 and that most receivers get to 45000 ms,we are talking about DVB-S2/8PSK transmissions here

quite right Pipino.
i have a darkbox hd which goes up to 41000 ms in dvb-s mode.
but in dvb-s2/8psk only 30000ms.

so the question still remains are the channels encrypted or is it just that they are beyond the reach of most receivers?
I think it is the later.

ok, but the question is, have you used one or know anyone who has and are the channels encrypted?

ok I didn't get the point

btw my ST HD3 tuned not only the BBC package at 27.5w but also the channels that are (gone now? gonna check tonite...) at 12.5west, dvb-s2, 12.718H, SR 36510 (see the last slice of news _http://satkurier.pl/news/47819/trzy-8222tajne8221-transpondery-na-13e.html, of course they are not viewable because of the modulation they use, that is 16APSK, but I can correctly see the signal and download the channels

OK lets get this into perspective.

The channels you are seeing are feeds for UK Digital Terrestrial transmission and for feeds to the Cable companies, I.e Virgin Media & NTL Chorus

They are more than likely encrypted in Powervu, BISS or RAS so its unlikely that they will be viewable.

The reason they are transmitted on that particular satellite is because its probably cheaper to do so than to carry it round to the various transmitter stations by this method than it would be by say cable or Terrestrial transmission.

If you look at the spot beams footprint it is located directly over the UK which makes it a good choice of satellite.

The fact that the footprint covers most of Europe is not a reason to think it has been transmitted for the purpose of viewing by persons outside the UK :-Nooo

I would forget about viewing these channels in all honesty. Even if they did become open, they would only be that way for a very short period of time

hello to all,
if you look the service is in the clear but the symbol rate is high.
the new boxes from china some will reach 36.mbps in mpeg-4 but not 39.777.
the service on the sat charts show it is not encrypted but in the clear.
no biss, and no power view.
this is not to say it will stay that way.
this service has been running since 20 apr 2009 and its still in the clear but
if the signal does not reach here in italy whats the use.
the receivers can be modified to do almost anything, if they have receivers that will reach 36 mbps in mpeg 4 one can be midified to strech th 40 mbps.
will try a 2 meter dish in the weeks to come
if i get the siginal i will worry about the receiver.
:)

Well i've had the meter on it and i can't even get anything on the Spectrum

I'm unable to test this one i'm afraid. I don't think my ST-4 can see that type of Signal. I will however have another go tomorrow :D

According to Lyngsat and Flysat its encrypted. Lyngsat doesn't say what the encryption is but Flysat puts it down as being BISS encrypted as pictured below.

I have the TP on my Triple Dragon's analyser (IF 1744 = ~11495-9750). Of course unresolvable on any box I have due to high SR.

My personal view is that we should have the choice.

British people should be able to watch British TV in Europe regardless of their residential location.

Just because your not in the UK does not mean you should not get BBC ITV etc.

Surely the millions of brits in southern spain (most retired) have paid more than enough to the BBC over the years.

Let no forget the 30,000 British people that live in Gibraltar which is still a crown dependancy.

Broadcasters both by law and as part of their buisness model have to abide ny copyright issues.

Supposing a spanish channel had 3pm sat premier league footy, sky and the premier league would not be happy with them selling them in the UK.

Sky would not be happy at all as its a swindle.

Your right though we do get english games for FREE on saturday and sunday.

Thanks to Nova sports (Digi TV) we all see the games in English as well down here on the costa's. No need for Sky whatsoever!!!:toke:

27.5W used to be the home of SIS's bookies service in B-MAC back then. I always used Country Music TV for tweaking up my old Echostar SR50's threshold extension dongle, never completely removed the sparklies though O-no

Please dont take the discussion off topic.

This thread is for discussion of the UK DTT mux on I-907 NOT for the quasi legal uplink on I-905.

Off topic posts will be deleted - Ive removed a couple of completely off topic posts about the licence fee........

I managed to lock the signal on this package with TBS 6925 card, but unfortunately BBCs are encoded.Does anyone know how to "open"?
