Hi there Im all a little new to this so sorry if im asking dumb questions.

I recently bought a Pioneer HD 5090H TV and it comes with a Satalite Tuner built in. I have been playing with settings and looking online on advice to set it up. Nothing i do seems to get me BBC HD. infact after some looking on here i managed Luxe HD but thats it.. Im very confused on how to setup the tuner to give me the right channels and how to add each additional.

Any pointers to posts or questions. I have searched but failed to get anywhere.

First of all, are you on the right satellite (Astra 2 - 28East)
Next, you may need to include a starter transponder for the tuner to scan the Freesat frequencies

I do know the Pioneer manual that comes with the AV box is not the most informative, especially the bit about the satellite receiver, most customers don't know it exists until they spot the f-plug on the rear panel.
 
Can you take some pictures of the setup menus?
 
Yeah everyone keeps telling me its a freeview tuner not a satalite tuner... I keep telling them it has both!!!

Ill try to get some pictures tommorow.

Go to either the Eurobird 1 satellite or Astra 2, and check that it has the BBC HD transponder listed. If it does, scan it.

Well that found it.... So what is the best way to add all the relevent Channels. I can scan on frequency... will this pick up ALL satalites???
 
To get all available channels from a particular satellite, the normal procedure is to first ensure that you have the correct transponders listed and then to scan that satellite. It would then go through the transponder list and scan each one in turn.

I imagine that the receiver itself is capable of getting chanels from nearly all satellites, but it will only actually pick up stuff from the satellite cluster your dish is pointed at; in your case 28E (Astra2/Eurobird1).
 
Maybe i should have phrased that better!!! if i scan ALL frequencies will i get all channels on Astra 1/2/3 and Eurobird 1 rather than scan them in one at a time???
 
I presume so, that is normally what is done, every receiver I have ever tuned does that. Your 4th picture seems to indicate that yours does too (and it will as long as the frequency list is up to date).

No I do not agree, you can only scan satellites in the cluster you are pointing at unless you have a motorised dish. If you are pointing at 28.2/5 i.e. Astra 2A 2B and 2D and Eurobird 1 then you will scan in the channels on those satellites only, to get channels from Astra 1 at 19 East or or Astra 3 at 23.5 East you will require a motorised dish or multiple lnbs on an offset arm.
