newbie needs help lol

hi guys.
as above, completey new to this. got my 1st dreambox dm500s, it has Nabilo DarkStar II.
i have connected everything up etc, but it says the i am on transponder 28.4e when my friend says it should be 28.2e!
any picture that i get shows (28.4e) in the info bar! i dont seem to have all the channels he has

would really like to wipe it and stasr afresh, are there any walktrhus etc?

If this is a commercial card share you will not get any help here and it takes weeks to learn the basics on any Linux stb if you would care to read all the information posted suggest you start with this
