My Satellite Setup
Starsat SRX600CU Super and a LG LCD
My Location
Libya
Hi All,

I was hoping you could help me before I throw something at the TV.

I have just moved into a block of apartments out here in Libya and want to get Nilesat 102 as it has MBC & Fox programmes in English. The previous tenants were Spanish & Arabic so all the channels are set up for them.

I have a Starsat srx6300cu-super receiver.

Please could I have step by step numpty instructions on how to get Nilesat...there is only so much more I can take...

Thanks
Claire

Hi, we need more info

Like, do you have your own dish, or is it a communial one?

Can you find out at which satellite/s the dish/es is/are pointing?

What channels were the previous tenants watching and using what?

You could just plug the box into the satellite feed, scan the Nilesat satellite and see what if anything comes up.

Hi,
I *think* it is my own Sat, but I would have to climb up a ladder balanced on the staircase to get access to the roof...
The previous people were watching Hotbird.
I have Nilesat but no signal when I select it.
I have been through the settings but don't actually know what I am looking for - I have various numbers & either H or V.?!?!?! (H seems to give a signal strength but V doesn't).

Cheers
Claire

If the dish is pointing to Hotbird you can't watch Nilesat.

If you want to watch from Nilesat, you will need the dish pointing to that instead.

Obviously, somehow, you are going to have to find out whether the dish is yours, confirm that it needs re-aligning, and if so get it done.

If you are able to scan one of the frequencies that you have a signal on, and report on here what that frequency is, and the channels you can watch, it can be confirmed what satellite your dish is aligned to. Or you could check on kingofsat yourself :-

Hi

Okaaaayyy. Time to find a man who doesn't mind heights and send him onto the roof.
Thanks for your advice, appreciated.
I have since found 1 English speaking programme - The Pentagon Channel...

Thanks again
Claire

Oh and be aware if your man who has a head for heights finds its a communal dish you wont be able to realign it as that would destroy reception for the whole block!

:) Well will cross that bridge when we come to it - good thing is they all speak English anyways so it's not a major issue if they end up with Nilesat.

mmm, I doubt that the rest of the block will see it that way, LOL. There are many other channels that peeps may be after on Hotbird!, that most certainly would NOT be shown on an Arabic broadcasters satellite.
