Newbie Questions - VERY - MVision HD200

Hia All,

I am VERY new to sats outside of Sky, but finally fed up with Sky/Murdoch etc.

I am very familiar with computers, make pc games for a living, so am familiar with pc patches etc etc, however am not familiar at all with the world of satallite and am finding information very hard to find for total newbies.

I have a 50' Samsung HD TV and the MVision HD200 reciever, using a sky dish. At mo I have all UK free channels (I think) some non uk and no Irish channles, HD is via Terrestrial ariel here in RoI at lest unencrypted.

So some questions (and yes I have used the search function)

1) What exactly to patches for the sat reciever do? What changes will they make to the reciever?

1) What other channels can I get by patching or adding hardware?

3) I have been told that its possible to link the box via broadband, or is that another box entirely?

Basically what can I do with the box, what other channels can I get etc?

These days probably not much

Possibly DigiTV 1W if you put some additional equipment up

Does it have an ethernet port?
 
Patching your receiver connected to a dish on 28E would have no benefit at all.

Almost all other providers on other satellites are either now immune to patches or soon will be.
