My Satellite Setup
Total newbie going to freesat and dumping sky
My Location
Portsmouth
I intend on having freesat serving 3 bedrooms whilst i continue with sky downstairs.
Can anyone recommend a sat dish or set up arrangement so i can have 3 freesat boxes running from one dish.

Basically i need a shopping list of items and think i'd just have standard definition for the bedrooms.

I may also need the dish installed for me, not keen on doing it myself.

Welcome to the forum.

Standard zone 1 sky dish (43cm) with a quad LNb to serve 4 single feed receivers. If more feeds required then an OctoLNb will suit.

If you already have a sky dish set up, freesat will work from the off.

Quad LNb = 4 port LNb, fits straight onto the dish as opposed to a bulk standard single.

Quad LNB is the off the shelf solution!

Every tuner needs a separate feed, so every standard Freesat (or Sky) box needs one feed and every PVR needs two feeds.

I'm using sky+ at the moment, is it possible to put another two leads onto my sky dish? Do i need to put a quad lnb on and is this likely to mess up my sky?

on another issue, once i get into freesat, is it likely i'd be upgrading to something else (motorised systems) can you get many decent transmissions in english?

No interference with sky programming and if you have two spare ports then ok to use. If you need more than 4 feeds then an octo (8 ports) is available for a sky dish. Motorised would be a separate dish/system completely.

So if i understand it, if i buy
_http://www.amazon.co.uk/SkyWare-SX719QS-S-Quad-LNB/dp/B000NNO88E
and i buy
ebay 380174314139
plus the freesat boxes.
It should work with my sky + using two outputs and the freesat boxes on the other two sockets.
No new dish required.
