looking for information on what's`s out there
not sure what to buy.

Hello all, looking to get started not sure what to buy, seams so much out there weather fixed or motorised dish i still have a sky dish on back of the house. ( no subscription i cancelled it due to, to many repeats )
Wizard Satellite & Ariel superstore are just down the road from me i popped in to have a chat with them i am more confused now than before with what dish,receiver,embedded twin CI slot,embedded card reader,Diseqc 1.0,1.1,1.2,USALS, blind search.
then there the cards, card readers. they are what i can remember any help would be appreciated .

Well it would help if you could tell us what your particular interests are eg Sport, Films, Foreign Languages, Feeds, whatever.

looking for film channels, free to air, in English Languages,some adult channels can be foreign Languages.
Not sure of what FEEDS are ,some sport,not football.
 
Feeds are transmissions, sometimes in the clear, of Sport, Current Affairs etc and are the Broadcasters way of getting raw video/audio to it's final uplink. Not intended for Public consumption.

They are transient in nature and appear with all sorts of strange frequencies and symbol rates.

Chasing these is a big part of the hobby for some, a small part for others and of no consequence to a few.
 
You can't normally go far wrong with a fairly decent 1m motorised dish coupled to a Diseqc/USALS motor. Receiver wise there is so much choice. Some people go down the Dreambox/Linux route, but can be fairly complicated to get full use out of it. Or you can start with a fairly basic FTA receiver, with a CAM slot and a card slot, such as the TM5400, and then work your way up to something better.
