JSC does give NHK News during the day in FTA, but it is good to have a channel open all the time.
 
Ah one of my favourite channels - theres some interesting stuff on in the evenings :)
 
Yes, been waiting for a regular Japanese channel since JSTV tightened up encryption.

Having been to Japan several times, I like to keep up with what's what occasionally.
