It was bound to happen eventually. Is anyone in the UK receiving 201? Perhaps Feedsat_DX?

Indeed according TLE, Nilesat 102 seems to have left 7.0°W a few days ago, moving East.

But isn't Nilsat 102 beam more restricted to the Mediterranean Basin, whilst that of 201 covers more of the semi northern area eg.France.

Interesting as it's coming up to the end of it's service life. Are they retasking it or will it be going into junk orbit?

When moving East, the altitude was decreased, so it's not going to the usual junk orbit above the Clarke-belt.

Always been lucky here with 7ºW, worried a wee bit before the launch of 201 after seeing the planned footprints for Mena and NW Africa beams but all has turned out well .

Think it was around 1992/3 that we first had the good range of MBC films etc channels and FTA, 99% english/american speaking with subtitles in arabic....this format basically continues to this day.......some 22 years later ! :D

Scan today shows that even with the 1.2m capable of a great .db level and a few clicks east pulls in a lot from nearby 5.0ºW.

I am receiving this Frequency 10992 V 27500 3/4 (not 5/6) with a rather low Snr 8.75db whilst all others are booming in.....15 db and more.

Is any one else picking it up?

Nilesat 102 goes dark?

Nilesat 102 is reportedly being moved from its 7 deg West position. Its mission has been taken over by Nilesat 201.

Nilesat 102 was launched in August 2000 with an estimated life of 15 years and has thus completed its primary mission. Its replacement, Nilesat 201, was launched in August 2010.

While some comments suggest 102 is being drifted to a graveyard orbit this may not necessarily be correct and would depend entirely on the amount of fuel still left on the satellite.

Nilesat works closely with Eutelsat (at 8 deg West) and coordinates TV transmissions to the MENA region from the 7-8 deg West positions.

Indeed on 3 March, there may have been yet another faulty TLE, it happens too often lately. :(
The TLE of 4 March has Nilesat 102 back in place at 7.0°W with no significant drift.

I think some of the channels attributed to Nilesat 201 are now on Eutelsat 7 West A @ 7.3 west just scanning to check how many I can get now.
