NME launches TV channel

NME is launching a new 24/7 TV channel for real alternative music enthusiasts, which will be available to around nine million households across the UK.

Going live this Friday (November 23) on Sky Digital 377, programming will include videos from classic artists as well as new bands, and range of exclusive up-to-date charts, including the Club NME chart

A music news service will provide breaking news alongside exclusive interviews and footage.

The launch is happening on the back of a major strategic partnership between IPC Ignite and CSC Media Group (formerly Chart Show Channels).

NMETV will be comprehensively cross-promoted with NME.com and NME magazine, while advertising sales on the channel will be handled by specialist TV airtime sales and sponsorship house, Dolphin TV.

NME publishing director Paul Cheal, said launching the linear television channel was a major new development for the UK's leading alternative music brand.

He added, “While NME.com continues to rack up the awards, and the print brand continues to set new standards in content and marketing, NMETV will add an important new strand of content to our existing platforms.

“CSC is the perfect partner to launch NMETV – working together we'll ensure it is delivered with the passion, authority and attitude which makes NME so uniquely powerful and trusted across all platforms.”
