My Satellite Setup
Hitachi telly with no signal yet.
Toshiba telly with Sky.
Dell laptop with Sky BB.

I have a Hitachi tv with built in freeview in the spare room. It can view 4 channels from the roof areal but the kids are moaning that is not enough.
Rather than pay a huge amount for a free view aerial would it be better to buy a Freesat box and fit it to the telly from the spare output from my quad lnb of the sky dish? I also have a spare sky dish with a single lnb lying around which I could use.
Any guideance would be appreciated, thanks.

If you have a spare outlet on the quad lnb then yes just run a cable to the spare room and buy a Freesat box (or even a second hand Sky box from a boot sale)

What Analogue says is good advice however I do not understand:-
a) why you can only receive 4 channels on your freeview TV, even with an old aerial I would expect more than 4,
b) why would a new aerial be so expensive?
c) I am in a bad reception area behind a hill but with an old analogue aerial mounted in the loft still manage to get most freeview channels

Go to this site:-

Enter your post code and house number, you will then be able to check how many channels and from which transmitter you should be getting from terrestrial.
