Hi I am a novice on this subject but was wondering if someone could confim/correct some points. They may be basic and a few of them but maybe they will help other novice readers.
1. a) Atmospheric conditions would effect Channel 4 in a different way to what we seeing - my previously experience suggests that the signal strength doesn't change but noise distortion pixalates the picture.
b) such conditions have not effected ITV in the same way
c) the reports that signal strength in some area's has increased and others has decreased suggest it the beam has moved.
All of the above suggest that the likely hood of this being temp. or accidental is fairly low? unless the satellite is moved somehow unintentionally?
2. If this is a delibrate move of the beam?
a) we would get no help from Astra to understand this
b) would or can places like lyngsat adjust their maps to show the coverage of these beems - I believe they have must have moved because Astra 2b should be available to Sicily/malta with 1.2 dish.
c) Finally, if this is a delibrate move of the beam what is the point?
it seems to have no effect of UK viewers, and apparently whilst taking the accessability away from some just provides it to others? Unless the same Sat is used my other European broadcasters who needed this move for some reason
