No film 4 on sky stb

i have a friend near me in spain that cannot get film 4 to come upon his sky stb. he has not been on in his house for months,ie: no updates (holiday home)
i told him to leave his stb on for 3 days and it should update automatically
is this the case?? or is there a faster or better solution?

No just lots of patience and a good signal lock on Astra of course

Assuming that you DO have a good signal then you can force an STB update.

Disconnect the STB from the mains and wait a few moments. Then press the backup button on the STB (NOT the remote) and reconnect to the mains. Keep the button pressed in until the front LEDs all light up and wait for the lEDs to go out - this can take some time and progress can be monitored on your TV if it is connected by scart lead.

It's very likely that being switched off is the cause as Film4 changed its frequency before going FTA.

Signal pretty good....for spain, however forced d-load can cause problems in low signal areas right?? if he doent get film4 within 4 days ill go for your method paulr
