I was watching E4 earlier tonight and all of a sudden the dreambox went off and there was no green or red light on the box so I unplugged it and left it for a bit then went back to it and plugged everything back in and still nothing, no lights, no picture... nothing.... what do I do??

EDIT: I've sorted the problem, the Dreambox is ok its the black box on the power lead thats knackered, which brings me to the next question,
Am I ok to use a normal power lead (obviously with the same connection end)?

The "black box" is the power supply unit. You need another 12V one; I can't remember the amperage but you can probably use a 1.5A ok.

i have looked through my box of wires n stuff and found a power lead with the same connector on the end, its a goodmans lead, on the plug itself it says the following;
Goodmans TYPE 12
INPUT: 230V~50Hz ONLY
OUTPUT: DC 12V

will this be ok to use??

The DreamBox 500 consumed 430mA at 11.4V. Original rating on Power supply is 2A, 12V.

Check the polarity of the output first.
