There is so much in here this might be answered, but I wouldn't know where to start, so my problem is;

I have a fixed satellite dish at home with a Bush Freesat HD tuner (the cheap one) and everything is fine.

I want to get Sat TV in my caravan, so I've purchased a portable Satellite dish (60 cm) and I have tried to connect the Bush tuner. I've got a strong signal and the Tuner scans and finds channels. But when I connect it to my TV via the Scart lead I get the channels displayed but with the message "Service not currently available" on all the channels.

What am I doing wrong?
 
It sounds like you've aligned the dish at the wrong satellite. Assuming that you've found Astra 1 at 19E (most common mistake) slacken the dish mounts and move a little at a time (nudge, nudge, nudge) towards the left (looking from the BACK of the dish) until you get another strong signal. Then see if you've found the right satellite.

It might be that you've found Hotbird at 13E first so, in this case, you would have to move through 19E to find 28E. Note that because the satellites are in an arc in the Sky that you will also have nudge the dish so that it points a little further down but this can be done second after the sideways move.

There's a vague possibility that as you move across the sky you could also find the satellites at 16E and 23.5E but these are much weaker than the others.

Thanks for your help. I think I've got another problem. I have been connecting the Sat finder to the Tuner end of the cable, I've just tried connecting it to the LNB end and the tone comes on all the time. Any idea what the problem might be?
 
May well be cable connections to or from the squawker meter.

As said anyone of the high powered satellites can be missed placed for Astra2 such as 23.5 and 19e to name two.
