No signal mystery

:toke:At around 8.0 am on UK TV Gardens, Food, Alibi etc I get a message that no satellite signal is being received. All other channels work fine. At around 8.0pm they all come back and work perfectly until the following morning. Sky do not understand why although everyone has a different suggestion, none of them work. The dish and the LNB are fine (I changed both) with no success. I am reluctant to call Sky out for £65 because everything works fine for the evening and night but is gone on certain channels during the day (I am told by Sky all the problem channels are on the same frequency) This started about a week ago and now happens every day including weekends. Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe the capacitors have overheated.I had similar probs with a Thomson stb.I would take it to an electrical repair shop and get them to check it out and take it from there.Don't expect help from sky as they will deny that the box is faulty.Do a forum search for sky hd +.Good luck.

Try a box swap first connected to your dish to eliminate dish/cable problems.

Thanks for that It is the timing that is throwing me. Within 30 minutes of 8 at night it all comes back on the uk tv channels. The next morning about 8. am we are off again. None of my neighnours have trouble and the dish and transpoder change did not help. All other channels work perfec tly just the 8 or so effected

These sorts of situations are a nightmare to diagnose. It could be external interference or a receiver problem.

Firstly think about your home - is there anything set to come on between 8 & 8 - (central heating, house alarms etc)

Anyone park a car outside your house with a radar snooper unit in it?

Thomsons are notorious for the capacitors in the power supplies going.

Do you live at the bottom of a hill and an underground sewage pump is switching on during those times... it certainly sound like interference, do you live near a factory?
