Hi is it possible to motorise a dish with no line of site to the south being new to this hobby i have tried to find info on motorising a dish but it seems a satellite near south is needed to line the dish up.
At the moment i have the dish mounted on a 6ft pole on top of the outhouse which is 7ft high so dish is about 12ft 6in high as it is not at the very top of the pole this is on the lefthand side of house i do not want to move dish as it is easy for me to make ajustments and tinker without resorting to the use of an extending ladder.
Dish is pointing at 28.2 astra/eurobird if i moved dish to the other side of house i would see south but then would not see 28.2 so dish is staying put.
A line along side of the house where the dish is runs about 27deg east of south.
Can it be done please any comment or suggestions.
Thanks
Dave

Just use USALS and set it up for 28E

Yes, it can be done without being able to view south. Use USALS to send the dish to the nearest satellite you can see, align for that, you shouldn't be far off doing it that way, if at all.

Thanks for the replies never thought about USALS just got Diseqc stuck in my head must have had brain fade for a while.
So USALS it is dish is a 60cm at the moment but itend to buy a larger dish soon as possible but would rather buy the motor first
Any suggestions for a good motor please bearing in mind it will have to drive a larger dish than 60cm when i get a new one.

Clarke Tech HH390.

Second that, recently bought a Clarke Tech and up to now, it's driving a 1.2M fibreglass dish without a problem.
